My best timelapses from the two times I’ve visited the 61G lava flow in Kalapana, Hawaii. It’s amazing to see the lava in person and to watch how it moves over a long period of time in the timelapses! The heat is so intense that my camera gear became burning hot on the metal parts. I used the @revolvecamera slider for the moving shots. Music: Sub Hero - Snooze

Timelapse view of lava moving on the plains near Pu’u O’o, Hawaii. The hill in the distance is called the “Pali”, it is the mark of a large normal fault created by part of the island sliding out towards the sea. Lava cascades over the Pali on its way to the ocean during the eruption. This is substantially sped up from how fast Pahoehoe lava typically flows.
