WWC! My writing question concerns interracial dating in a mostly white high school based on the one I attend (I’m white btw). I have created fifteen characters, four of which are white. I’ve realised that out of the 5 romantic relationships that occur during the story, 4 are interracial, 3 between a white person and a person of color. The relationships are between a black girl and black boy, Chinese boy and black jewish boy, white girl and Japanese girl, Latina girl and white girl and an Indian girl and a white boy.
I was wondering whether this could be problematic, as I have put a higher ratio of white people in relationships, which was accidental but I’m scared might put across a negative message.
Also, should I be worried about having most of my relationships interracial?
There are reasons why some of my POC characters aren’t dating- one is Muslim and doesn’t plan on dating until she’s older, one is aroace, but these are the only two with reasons why they’re not dating people and I’m worried that I might be putting across a negative message. Any thoughts? Thank you!
I never actually thought about this before but purely going by the numbers, in a purely equal and interconnected world, the majority of relationships would be interracial, since as no one broad group has an absolute majority in population.
The barriers are 1) geography and 2) prejudicial preference.
Just avoid fetishization.

You do seem to have a balanced amount of People of Color in relationships, but if you’re concerned, you could always add more.
That could (and should) mean relationships we see unfold, such as main characters, and also smaller roles (like parents, friends, other family members having relationships) that we may not see as much of, but might be established in minors ways, talked about or mentioned.
