I’VE GOT MY INTERNSHIIIIIIIP!

From public service broadcasting to independent radio - some might consider it downgrading. But at this place, they offer me the opportunity to produce my own weekly show (!!!) and to join them in a five day workshop in Germany where I’ll be able to work with tons of German independent broadcasters (!!!), whereas…

Don’t get me wrong, I loved my time at the public service radio. I went to press conferences. They even trusted me enough so that I could attend one alone and interview a politician, and my article about it was broadcast (although I only wrote it, I did not speak), but they would never let someone produce a whole show after like six weeks of being there. Not even a small thing, or barely a 30 seconds thing. So I feel that, in this perspective, I will learn much more at the independent station.

Also they’re super friendly, very funny, and they love cookies.

It’s “Smiling Girl, a Courtesan, Holding an Obscene Image” by Gerard van Honthorst!!

I can’t believe this is real. I can’t believe I studied art history and never came across this.

do you ever get so annoyed at everything that you start to get pissed off at even little things like a spoon clinking against a bowl or sounds of people talking

I absolutely love December- seeing everybody wrap up and talk about the best parts of their years is so enlightening and fun. Even more, there’s all of the rec lists and best books of the year collections! I decided to do one myself, welcome to diverse-read’s best diverse young adult books of the year!! Here is today’s rec:

Why do I rec it?:

  • Author Mackenzi Lee is a QUEER QUEEN
  • The MC is bisexual
  • And his love interest has epilepsy, which is so important because we rarely see mental health covered in YA
  • His love interest is also POC!! AND THEY ARE CUTE TOGETHER I PROMISE
  • The MC’s sister is possibly are and is strong as HELL they rest of the characters would be dead without her
  • The boys are best friends and they seriously love each other and respect each other’s boundaries
  • It’s queer historical purely because Mackenzi Lee wanted to see “characters like her in historical fiction”
  • The MC is white and most certainly privileged. Although he abuses it sometimes he eventually recognizes it and becomes more away of what’s going on around him
  • Generally a great coming of age story and has great POC, illness and LGBTQ+ representation!!!
