International Women’s Day - Favourite Female Authors

International Women’s Day – Favourite Female Authors

Hey guys,

so since it was International Women’s Day on Friday, I decided to use this week’s post to talk about five of my favourite women writers. I mean,  I’m always here to celebrate all the amazing women who write out there, but International Women’s Day felt like the perfect opportunity to get into some of my favourites.

As usual there’s no particular order to this list.

A few things -

My second bloodpact arrived safely! Now onto planning; we’ll be spending the whole weekend together soon (not this week, but the week after), and I gotta figure out if that’s too soon, or if I should wait until we’re on vacation again, which will probably either be in June/July, or in September, and probably again by the sea. So many things to consider!

Also in the package was a leaflet promoting the Cursed Child in Hamburg…I miss Hamburg; we lived there for three years, and I’d love to return. Plus, as much as I disliked the script, I’d actually love to see it on stage, because in my expreience, reading a play and seeing a play are two very different experiences, and I’d love to see how they pull off certain things and effects.

First day of work is done!

Since this is a part-time job, I work on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, the two first days from 8 to 5, and on Fridays from 8 till noon. Today was…something else in terms of new information being dumped on me, and my head is spinning. I also need over an hour to get from my place to work because I’m going by bus and the schedule is…interesting (so is traffic), which means I have to get up super early.

I might also have to attend a press conference or meeting outside of my office hours from time to time, so there’s that.

It might take me a few weeks to get fully used to the schedule; if there’s something that I’m not, it’s a morning person, or early riser.

And now I need a nap, and a pain killer…my poor back. XDD

2.19.19

Hey, folks!

We wanted to give a heads-up on some topics that will be covered soon. Keep an eye out for these guides:

Caring for natural (curly, afro) hair in a setting with no access to modern hair products.

How to Subvert Racial Tropes

Subverting vs. avoiding tropes: not a heavily explored topic, so let’s talk about it.

Stay tuned!

Update on the job thing -

I’ll be officially starting on March 1st! They will send me the contract via mail so I can read it and call them should there be any questions, and I’ll sign it when I first come in. As it stands now i’ll be working three times a week - Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 am to 5 pm, and Fridays from 8 to 12. I may however have to attend press conferences outside of my office hours now and then, and my schedule may be reshuffled at some point.

(This is part time; I’m replacing someone on maternity leave for the next 11 months, and I’m scheduled to work for 20 hrs/week, just as they did.)

I’m 31 years old, and I’ll be signing my first employment contract. This is late to many…I mean there are people who start working before they even hit their 20ies. I just happened to take a few detours and study for longer, and I’m so lucky that I’m employed only four months after receiving my diploma. Even if this is only a temporary job - it’s a job, it’s not a bad one, it’ll put food on the table, give me experience in the work field, and look good on the résumé. Who am I to complain? :)
