I just finished baking 36 lactose-free raspberry-yoghurt cupcakes -
and only 12 of them are for mum and me.
Am I a baker yet?

Some impressions of the fireworks in Bettembourg (nope, I was not in Luxembourg´s capital for the national holiday, though I do live there. Decided to celebrate with friends at their living spot.)
Plus a guest appearance of my finger. :3
The lovely @sabrina.reads tagged me to do books in a colour of my choice, and I decided to do blue books.
I really like To Kill a Mockingbird and Surfacing, and Game of Thrones was decent but I have to admit I found it a bit slow, or maybe it was that I knew at least parts of the plot because I had watched the show already.
I’m not tagging a lot of people but if I didn’t and you want to pick it up consider yourself tagged as well 😉 I’d love to see what you guys come up with.

This wasn’t a coincidence that I saw this today.
La Perla di Venezia by SweetLittleVampire
Bianca Solderini, the Pearl of Venice.
No idea what suddenly possessed me to draw her - I just kind of wated to, so I did. I recall that I really liked her back when I first read The Vampire Armand (which I desperately need to reread). And I´ve always been a sucker for Renaissance Venice.

Reblogging because time zones. :3
Oh boy, has it been a long time since I’ve done this.
Hook Me is an exercise I do every now and then with my followers. You submit a fake query letter and I critique it.
Your goal is to write a short summary of your story that piques my interest. My job is to help you make it better.
IF YOU ARE A BETA READER OR LOOKING FOR A BETA READER, YOU MIGHT GET LUCKY…keep reading
This link explains what a query letter is, provides a template, and provides tips for writing one. This tag has more tips.
The query letter is the key to getting published. If you want to get published, you must learn to write a good query letter. Agents and editors will read the query before they even bother looking at the actual manuscript.
Here are the guidelines for submitting your fake query.
1. CONTENT
Query letters usually consist of three parts:
I only want the second paragraph.
The third paragraph is optional. If you include the third paragraph, I do not need a title, but you can include it if you want to. Include word count and age group/genre. I can give you feedback on whether your story is too long or too short for your intended audience/genre.
All genres are welcome. You do not need to have a completed manuscript to submit. I will not be looking at that.
2. PRIVATE AND PUBLIC CRITIQUES
If you want a private critique:
If you are okay with a public critique, but want to remain anonymous:
All submissions will otherwise be posted publicly so that others may offer advice or so that they can learn from my critiques.
3. BETA READER OPTION
If you are looking for a beta reader, this is your chance.
Put “beta” in the title of the submission and I will create a separate post at the end of the game that consists of all of the submissions looking for beta readers. These submissions must be public. Private submissions will not be included in the beta search.
If you are looking for a beta reader, be sure to include word count and genre in the query submission.
If you are a beta reader looking for projects to read, this is also your chance.
You don’t need to submit a query letter to do this. Just submit a submission titled “beta” and provide the following information:
If you did submit a query, please submit a separate post if you are a beta reader.
4. SUBMISSION BOX
Submit to the submission box. Do not use the ask box.
5. WHEN TO SUBMIT
The submission box will be open from June 15, 2016 at 6:00 PM CDT (North America) to June 17, 2016 at 6:00 PM CDT. That gives you 48 hours.
Use this time zone converter to find when it’s open for you.
I will close the submission box when the submission period is over. So if the link stops working, then it’s over.
6. SUMMARY CHECKLIST
Make sure you have the following when submitting:
1. What will your critique be?
I will be judging based on length, structure, following directions, ability to summarize, writing style, etc.
The critique will include an edited version if needed (I’ll strike out some stuff, rearrange some stuff, etc., just as a suggestion). Afterwards will be an explanation of strengths and weaknesses. Finally, I’ll say if your submission hooked me or not.
However, I will NOT be critiquing your story idea or your characters. This is just about the query.
2. How will submissions be posted?
Slowly. I’ll go through all of them before I start responding to any. I will post the original query, any of my suggested edits, and the actual critique.
After all have been posted, I will write up a summary post that addresses common problems that I saw and how to fix them.
3. Can I submit multiple queries?
Yes.
4. Is there a prize?
The critique!
I once offered to beta read/critique manuscripts to the few people who nailed their submission, but only two or three people responded…
5. Are you going to steal my idea?
Absolutely not. I have my own ideas that I’d like to work on.
6. What are the benefits of a public critique?
7. What if I don’t want to see this? How do I check submissions?
All posted submissions will be tagged with hook me nimble. So either blacklist it or track it.
