Some writing thoughts
- The first draft is always bad–it doesn’t matter how much experience you have.
- Don’t be afraid of something turning out terrible. Starting out bad is the key to making something good in the future.
- You’ll see a lot of writing advice floating around the internet. A lot of it probably won’t work for you.
- That being said, don’t be afraid to try something you see–even if you don’t think you’ll use it–because there are some pieces of advice that will end up being a lifesaver.
- Don’t feel pressured to write something or not write something because some stranger on the internet said so.
- Don’t shy away from research. It can be intimidating, but it will only help you.
- Take every bit of advice with a grain of salt.
- You will get writer’s block. Sadly, there is no sure-fire way to cure it.
- Ignore someone if they criticizes you for writing the “trend.”
- There’s no “right” way to write.
- A lot of people will say a lot of things about your stories. Sometimes you should listen and sometimes you need to ignore them. It’s good to learn the difference.
- Write what you want to write.
- Make a habit of it.
