Hogwarts After School Clubs AU

tyrumphant and I noticed that Hogwarts didn’t offer many activities outside of school hours apart from Quidditch and possibly the Hogwarts Choir. We have remedied this in the following list.

DRAMA SOCIETY :

Trivia :

• For the opening scene of Macbeth, the Weasley twins manipulate the ceiling of the Great Hall to look like a thunderstorm
  
• For this same scene, Seamus tries to light a little fire underneath the “Witches’ “ cauldron, but creates a huge cloud of smoke instead (the audience finds this very atmospheric, even if it does distinctly smell of burned eyebrows)
  
• During the ’Witch and Cauldron’ scene, Professor Snape sighs and rolls his eyes in exasperation, because that’s not how you do it.
  
• Professor Trelawney puckers her lips, and nods with encouraging little grunts while the witches share the prophecy. The nodding intensifies when the prophecy is especially gruesome.
  
• The Weasley twins manage to grab a branch of the Whomping Willow for the ‘Forest Scene’ in Macbeth. It all goes well until the branch starts thrashing violently and they have to take it off stage because it clearly doesn’t want to be there.
  
• Nearly Headless Nick is cast as Yorick in the Drama Society’s performance of Hamlet. Hermione repeatedly reminds him that Yorick is a silent role and that he probably wouldn’t be grinning from ear to ear.
  
• Ophelia’s death scene floods the stage, and fish start flopping about between the audience’s seats.
  
• Hagrid repeatedly tries to convince Hermione to use Hippogriffs, and other magical animals for the epic battles and any pastoral scenes, but Hermione politely declines.
• A jealous student (that will remain unnamed) tries to sabotage a fellow student’s performance by pouring three drops of veritaserum into their water bottle. However, the victim was living the character they were playing and simply proceeds to give one of the most honest and heart-wrenching performance the school has ever seen. The plan backfired because method acting !

ART CLUB :

• Professor Lupin ( modern art), they lead a merry feud because both want to lead.
  

Top Member :

• Draco Malfoy. He has a lot of alone time at home during which he locks himself in his room to paint or sculpt. He never lets anyone see his work until it is finished, and always pretends it was hardly any effort at all.
  

Other Notable Members :

• Harry Potter : never actually attends, but shows up after classes to talk to Professor Lupin about expressionism and surrealism.
  
• Hagrid and Ron Weasley sit in on classes, but Hagrid’s beard keeps trailing in the paint and catching clay, so his work always looks messy. Ron achieves similar results but without the excuse of a beard.

• Students go to Professor Sprout for vegetables, etc… and Hagrid for fresh game. Leftovers are given to Buckbeak.
  
• Crabbe and Goyle are part of the Food Club, but steer well clear of muffins (see Harry Potter and Chamber of Secrets)

QUIDDITCH FUNDRAISING (for new uniforms and so on):

• The Slytherin Quidditch Team organizes a cake sale with the help of Professor Snape.
  
• In an attempt to beat the Slytherin cake sale, Fred and George Weasley try to get the older Griffindor Quidditch players to pose for a slightly revealing calendar with strategically placed Quidditch balls. They also try to convince everyone that the slightly bigger balls have already been strategically placed on other students and that the snitch is the only one still available.
